Recap: Justin Garza Guardians vs. Lemoore Tigers
The Justin Garza Guardians and the Lemoore Tigers squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Justin Garza Guardians had to settle for second. Justin Garza took a 38-27 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lemoore. While losing is never fun, Justin Garza can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 307th, while Lemoore is ranked 136th).
Justin Garza's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Caleb Matthews, who threw for 230 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.5 yards per attempt. London Alexander got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Lemoore's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kobe Green, who picked up 143 receiving yards and a touchdown. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Jensen, who picked up 44 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
This is the second loss in a row for Justin Garza and nudges their season record down to 5-6. As for Lemoore, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.
Justin Garza does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Lemoore will be playing at home against Sunnyside at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Sunnyside is coming into the game hot, having won their last nine games.
