Baseball Game Preview: Black River Pirates vs. Mapleton Mounties

The Black River Pirates are taking a road trip to challenge the Mapleton Mounties at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.

On Thursday, Black River came up short against Independence and fell 5-2.

Meanwhile, Mapleton won against Bucyrus on Thursday with three runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Mounties beat Smithville by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 3-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mounties.

JJ Leininger was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Leininger was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.

Black River's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-7. As for Mapleton, their record now sits at 2-15.
