Softball Recap: Asotin Comes Up Short

Asotin extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping them down to 1-5. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost an 11-9 heartbreaker at the hands of the Colton Wildcats. Even though they lost, the Panthers' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.5 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Georgia Schaefer was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those stolen bases marked the first that she has snagged this season.

As for Colton, their record now sits at 4-1. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their two-run performance the game before.

On Colton's side, Kiya Soza made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. With that strong performance, Soza is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, going 4-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2025.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Meredith Bell, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run and three RBI. Rori Weber was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Asotin will head out to take on Liberty at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lancers have averaged an impressive 15 runs per game this season. As for Colton, they will head out on the road to face off against DeSales at 12:00 p.m. on Friday.
