The Herron Achaeans will face off against the Indianapolis Shortridge Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Herron has given up an average of 7.4 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
On Friday, Herron made easy work of Purdue Broad Ripple and carried off a 17-11 victory. Considering the Achaeans have won six matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Abraham Cherry made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, four runs, and three RBI.

In other batting news, Elon Sharp was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Keane Ricchiuto, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Herron was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Purdue Broad Ripple only posted a batting average of .258.
Meanwhile, Indianapolis Shortridge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They came up short against Seton Catholic, falling 13-3.
Herron is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Indianapolis Shortridge, their loss dropped their record down to 2-13.
Herron took their victory against Indianapolis Shortridge when the teams last played back in April by a conclusive 7-0 score. Do the Achaeans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Blue Devils turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
