Softball Recap: Sauk Rapids-Rice Snaps 11-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sauk Rapids-Rice). They put the hurt on the Detroit Lakes Lakers with a sharp 18-4 win on Tuesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Riley Turck made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run. That home run was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Sauk Rapids-Rice got a massive performance out of Brooklyn Diskerud, who went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. Those four runs gave Diskerud a new career-high. Lauren Flakne was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base.

Sauk Rapids-Rice kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Sauk Rapids-Rice's win ended an 11-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-9. As for Detroit Lakes, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.
