Football Recap: Holy Cross Takes Down Christ the King in a Playoff Battle

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Holy Cross walked away with it. They managed a 14-8 victory over the Christ the King Royals on Saturday. The win continues a trend for the Knights in their matchups with the Royals: they've now won three in a row.

Madden Martinez was the offensive standout of the game as he rushed for 51 yards and a pair of scores on only six carries, and also threw for 132 yards on 12 of 25 attempts. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in rushing touchdowns (two).

Holy Cross' victory bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Christ the King, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5.

Looking ahead, Holy Cross will face off against Xaverian at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Christ the King does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
