Baseball Recap: Freeburg Triumphs

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Freeburg and Salem meet (five straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Midgets won by a run and slipped past the Wildcats 4-3. The Midgets have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Wildcats, too.

Freeburg got a great performance from Gabe Lueth as he didn't allow a single earned run over 5.1 innings pitched. Lueth also tossed a walk, which is notable because the Midgets are undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 3-6 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sam Rauckman, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024. Beau Breyman was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Freeburg now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Salem, they now have a losing record of 8-9.

Freeburg will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Wildcats: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
