Basketball Recap: Three Straight Road Wins for St. Thomas More Academy

St. Thomas More Academy won the last time they faced American Leadership Academy-Johnston, and Winnie Dehring did her part to make sure it happened again. The St. Thomas More Academy Chancellors simply couldn't be stopped on Wednesday as they easily beat the American Leadership Academy-Johnston Patriots 61-19 thanks in part to Dehring, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 13 steals. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points.

LIlian Marquardt was another key player, putting up ten points and seven steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 11 games she's played.

St. Thomas More Academy pushed their record up to 8-9 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.7 points per game. As for American Leadership Academy-Johnston, they are on a 19-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-14.

St. Thomas More Academy and American Leadership Academy-Johnston could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. St. Thomas More Academy (ranked 426th) will meet Thales Academy Apex (ranked 193rd) at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, American Leadership Academy-Johnston will take on St. Mary's at 5:00 p.m. on Friday down 445 places (610 vs. 165).
