Basketball Game Preview: Mount Academy Eagles vs. Pine Plains Bombers

The Mount Academy Eagles will square off against the Pine Plains Bombers at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday. Mount Academy will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak.

Mount Academy is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Millbrook: they outscored them in every quarter. Mount Academy blew past Millbrook 59-37 on Tuesday. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 20 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Jake Maendel, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 boards. Another player making a difference was Bruce Maendel, who posted 13 points in addition to seven rebounds and five assists.

Mount Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Millbrook only racked up six assists.

Meanwhile, Pine Plains was able to grind out a solid victory over Webutuck on Tuesday, taking the game 54-43.

Mount Academy pushed their record up to 11-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 32.2 points. As for Pine Plains, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-8.

Everything came up roses for Mount Academy against Pine Plains in their previous matchup on January 7th, as the team secured a 106-48 win. In that contest, Mount Academy amassed a halftime lead of 46-14, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Thursday.
