Football Recap: Heritage Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Heritage took on Martin County on Friday. The Panthers fell 19-14 to the Tigers. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

A big part of Martin County's victory came down to the chemistry between Manny Louis and his top target Amarion Queen. Louis threw for 142 yards and a pair of TDs while Queen picked up 103 receiving yards and two touchdowns. That's the most receiving touchdowns Queen has posted since back in August.

Heritage's loss was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Martin County, their win bumped their record up to 7-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Heritage will face off against Melbourne Central Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers will be up against the Hustlers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 27.43 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Martin County, they will take on Jensen Beach at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Tigers 10.9, the Falcons 9) so any points scored will be well earned.
