Basketball Recap: Southland College Prep Comes Up Short

If Southland College Prep was riding high fresh off their 49-22 takedown of Francis W. Parker last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Southland College Prep were outmatched by Chicago Hope Academy and fell 54-12. Southland College Prep lost against Chicago Hope Academy in their previous head to head back in January of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 48-30 score last time.

Amoria Allen was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds for Chicago Hope Academy. Allen is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Jocelynn Smellie was another key player, putting up eight points and seven boards.

Southland College Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Chicago Hope Academy, they pushed their record up to 15-7 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.

Southland College Prep wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 42-36 win against Donovan/St. Anne on the 4th. As for Chicago Hope Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 45-17 victory against North Shore Country Day on the 4th.
