Softball Recap: Chanhassen Storm vs. Chaska Hawks
Chanhassen extended their losing streak to four on Monday, dropping their season record down to 5-5 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the Chaska Hawks. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Storm of the 6-3 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.
As for Chaska, their record is now 4-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since April 15th.
For Chaska's part, Allana Benoit was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits (and only one walk). Benoit has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Laney Farm was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. That home run was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Iyla Branch, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chanhassen will welcome Orono at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Chaska, they will host Minnetonka at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
