Football Recap: Monache Comes Up Short

Monache had lost three straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped down to 6-4 to make it four. They took a blow against the Porterville Panthers, falling 49-7. While losing is never fun, the Marauders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 320th, while the Panthers are ranked 131st).

Tyson Harrington threw for 68 yards. Jasiah Rodriguez was his top target, picking up 68 receiving yards. On the ground, Cooper Baxter rushed for 70 yards and one score.

As for Porterville, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-2. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won seven games by 33 points or more so far this season.

Porterville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ethan Enriquez led the charge by throwing for 201 yards and three touchdowns while completing 76.5% of his passes. What's more, Enriquez racked up 19 rushing yards, the most he's had since back in August. Mark Salinas was Enriquez's top target, picking up 20 receiving yards and one TD, while also rushing for 65 yards and one score on only nine carries.

Monache and Porterville are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Marauders will take on Coalinga at 7:00 p.m. on the 7th. The Horned Toads' defense has only allowed 14.7 points per game this season, so Monache's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Porterville, they will square off against Ridgeview at 7:00 p.m. on the 7th.
