Soccer Game Preview: Williamsburg vs. Vinton-Shellsburg

The Williamsburg Raiders will head out on the road to square off against the Vinton-Shellsburg Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Williamsburg has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with three straight defeats, while Vinton-Shellsburg will come in with nine straight wins.

Williamsburg fell victim to East Buchanan and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They lost 10-0 to the Buccaneers. That's two games in a row now that Williamsburg have lost by exactly ten goals.

Meanwhile, Vinton-Shellsburg kept a clean sheet against East Marshall on Monday. They blew past the Mustangs 10-0. Vinton-Shellsburg might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by three goals or more this season.

Vinton-Shellsburg pushed their record up to 9-6-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 33 goals over those five matchups. As for Williamsburg, their loss dropped their record down to 4-12-2.

Williamsburg couldn't quite get it done against Vinton-Shellsburg when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 3-1. Can the Raiders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
