Recap: Powers Catholic Chargers vs. Hamtramck Cosmos

Even though the Hamtramck Cosmos scored an imposing 78 points on Friday, the Powers Catholic Chargers still came out on top. Powers Catholic had just enough and edged Hamtramck out 81-78. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Powers Catholic.

Javontae Ross was his usual excellent self, scoring 29 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Kelly, who scored 15 points.

Powers Catholic's win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.2 points per game. As for Hamtramck, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-6 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Powers Catholic will challenge Davison at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Davison knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 11 matches -- so hopefully Powers Catholic likes a good challenge. As for Hamtramck, they will head out on the road to square off against Grand Blanc at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Michigan (Grand Blanc is ranked 101st, while Hamtramck is ranked 85th).
