Volleyball Recap: James Monroe Comes Up Short

James Monroe was the 2-0 winner over Charleston Catholic when they last played one another back in October of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Mavericks fell just short of the Irish by a score of 2-1 on Thursday.

Ava Pitzer paced James Monroe's offense, picking up six kills. Pitzer got some help from Skylar Clarkson and her 11 assists. Pitzer also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Aliyah Clarkson, racking up two apiece.

James Monroe's loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. James Monroe will head out to face off against Mount Hope Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Charleston Catholic, they are headed away from home for the first time to square off against Nicholas County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
