Basketball Recap: Castle View Takes a Loss

Castle View suffered their biggest loss since December 7, 2024 on Tuesday. They lost 50-24 to the Doherty Spartans. The Sabercats haven't had much luck with the Spartans recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Lizzy Mroz was Castle View's leading scorer, having posted seven points. Mikayla Vigilante held things down on the boards with nine rebounds. Layla Loveland took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with three assists.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Doherty to victory, but perhaps none more so than Aubrey Smith, who posted ten points and eight boards. Those ten points gave Smith a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaity Driskell, who had 11 points.

Castle View's defeat dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Doherty, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-4.

Castle View wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 57-49 loss against Vista Ridge on the 15th. As for Doherty, they will square off against Pueblo West at 7:30 p.m. on January 21st. Doherty is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.2 points per game this season.
