Baseball Game Preview: Newark Norsemen vs. Somonauk Bobcats

The Newark Norsemen will head out to square off against the Somonauk Bobcats at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Newark has given up an average of 6.7 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Newark is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Saturday. They lost 12-3 to St. Bede.

Newark saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Toby Steffen, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. The Norsemen are 2-1 when Steffen posts two or more stolen bases, but 9-16 otherwise. Eastin Mcbroom was another, going 3-for-4 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Somonauk came up short against Hall on Monday and fell 6-2. The Bobcats haven't had much luck with the Red Devils recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Newark's loss dropped their record down to 11-17. As for Somonauk, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-10.

Newark skirted past Somonauk 9-8 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Norsemen repeat their success, or do the Bobcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
