Football Recap: Highline Pirates vs. Interlake Saints
Highline came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They were outmatched by the Interlake Saints and fell 48-13. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Pirates came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Washington football rankings (they are ranked 104th, while the Saints are ranked 227th).
Highline didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Mario Williams.
Julian Hayes had an outrageously good game for Interlake as he rushed for 72 yards and three touchdowns, and also threw for 234 yards and a pair of TDs. Those 72 rushing yards gave Hayes a new career-high.
Highline now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Interlake, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Highline and Interlake will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Pirates are set to challenge their familiar foe Issaquah at 7:00 p.m. on the 26th. Meanwhile, Interlake will face off against rival Evergreen at 7:00 p.m. on the 26th.
