Baseball Game Preview: South Bronx Phoenix vs. Monroe Campus

The South Bronx Phoenix will head out on the road to challenge Monroe Campus at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games South Bronx has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

South Bronx is headed into the game having just posted their closest victory since April 16, 2024 on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Luperon 4-3.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Monroe Campus and Inwood, and Inwood kept the tradition alive. Monroe Campus lost 6-0 to Inwood on Friday. The match marked the first time this season in which Monroe Campus was not able to get on the board.

South Bronx's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-4. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Monroe Campus, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-4.

South Bronx took their win against Monroe Campus when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 7-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Phoenix since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
