Softball Recap: Northwest Cabarrus Trojans vs. Concord Spiders

After flying high against Robinson last Tuesday, Northwest Cabarrus came back down to earth. Northwest Cabarrus took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Concord Spiders on Friday. The Trojans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Spiders apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Haylee Ellis was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and six unearned) runs off eight hits. Ellis was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Isabella Ellis was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.

Northwest Cabarrus' defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Concord, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-3.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Northwest Cabarrus will challenge rival Carson at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Concord is set to take on their familiar foe Central Cabarrus at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
