Basketball Recap: Sam Egger's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Independence Home School over Chesterton Academy of St. Philip Neri

If Independence Home School was feeling good fresh off their 51-30 takedown of Non Varsity Tournament Opponent two weeks ago, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Independence Home School Lions took a 47-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chesterton Academy of St. Philip Neri Crusaders. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Lions of the 53-44 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sam Egger, who posted 20 points. Those 20 points gave Egger a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Joe Young, who earned 14 points.

Independence Home School has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-4 record this season. As for Chesterton Academy of St. Philip Neri, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.

Independence Home School will venture away from home to challenge Midland Adventist Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Chesterton Academy of St. Philip Neri, they will face off against Ozanam at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Chesterton Academy of St. Philip Neri is facing Ozanam at the right time seeing as Ozanam is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
