Softball Recap: Kingston Triumphs

It was a proper cat-fight when Kingston faced off against Caro on Tuesday. The Cardinals walked away with a 13-8 victory over the Tigers. The Cardinals have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Tigers, too.

Chesaney Wenzlaff spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and four unearned) runs on 12 hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Grace McGarvie was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Lauren Krug also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

The win got Kingston back to even at 2-2. As for Caro, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kingston will take on Ubly at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Caro, they will face off against Reese at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Rockets' pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so the Tigers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
