Softball Game Preview: Granbury Pirates vs. Brewer Bears

Granbury hasn't had much luck against Brewer recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Pirates will host the Bears at 2:00 p.m. Granbury has given up an average of 8.2 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Granbury lost 13-1 to Azle on Friday.

Granbury saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hannah Dafoe, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Brewer, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Saginaw with a sharp 13-1 victory on Friday. Considering the Bears have won seven matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Brewer let Samantha Aguirre and Lilly Meller run wild. Aguirre went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one triple, while Meller went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four hits gave Aguirre a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Pena, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Brewer always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .594. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Saginaw only posted an OBP of .158.

Brewer's win bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Granbury, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-12.

Granbury couldn't quite get it done against Brewer when the teams last played back in April of 2025 as they fell 9-5. Can the Pirates avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
