Baseball Recap: West Union Has No Trouble Against Smithville

West Union won the last time they faced Smithville and things went their way on Friday too. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 19-4 margin over the Seminoles. Considering the Eagles have won nine matchups by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Jaxon Herod was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. West Union is 4-1 when Herod posts two or more runs, but 6-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Grant Martin, who scored three runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

West Union was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .458. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

West Union now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Smithville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-17.

When West Union and Smithville next hit the field, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose.
