Softball Recap: Deer Valley Takes a Loss

Friday just wasn't the day for Deer Valley's offense. They came up short against the Thunderbird Titans on Friday, falling 24-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Skyhawks have suffered against the Titans since April 10, 2019.

Deer Valley saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaydence Nielsen, who went 1-for-2 with one triple. That triple marked the first that Nielsen has hit this season.

Deer Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Thunderbird, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.

Deer Valley will face off against Estrella Foothills at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The Wolves have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.38 runs per game on average), something the Skyhawks will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Thunderbird, they will venture away from home to face off against Goldwater at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.11 runs per game on average), something the Titans will no doubt try to take advantage of.
