Basketball Recap: Pineywoods Community Academy's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday

It was a good run, but Pineywoods Community Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the Pollok Central Bulldogs by a score of 45-43. Sadly, that's the third time they've come up short against the Timberwolves this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 54-49 back in January.

Pollok Central had a senior duo take command as Jake Matthews posted 16 points along with seven rebounds and five steals and Law Shaver went 8 of 12 en route to 19 points. The contest was Matthews' third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Graham, who earned seven points in addition to five boards and four steals.

Pineywoods Community Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 16-15. As for Pollok Central, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-10.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Central Heights the next time they take the court. Pollok Central will host Central Heights at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Pineywoods Community Academy will host them at 7:15 p.m. on February 7th.
