Softball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Cotter

Cotter waltzed into their contest on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They were the clear victors by an 18-2 margin over the Mountainburg Dragons. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won 12 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Myah McNutt was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 17 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, Riley Brotherton was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, ten RBI, and two triples. Those ten RBI gave her a new career-high. Gracyn Jackson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Cotter was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .583. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .368 or higher in five consecutive matchups.

Cotter's victory bumped their record up to 15-3. As for Mountainburg, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Cotter will square off against Concord at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Mountainburg, they will venture away from home to take on Alpena at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
