Softball Recap: Milford Eagles vs. Kings Knights
Milford fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Kings on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 9-6 to the Knights. The Eagles just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.
Meghan McClellan spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and four unearned) runs on 12 hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Jesslyn Roberts was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-5. Lanie McCoy was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-5.
Milford's defeat dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Kings, the win (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 11-1.
Milford and Kings should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Eagles will challenge Turpin at 5:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (171 vs. 488). Meanwhile, Kings (ranked 37th) will meet Miamisburg (ranked 139th) at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
