Recap: Mater Dei Monarchs vs. Sierra Canyon Trailblazers
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Mater Dei Monarchs had no problem doing just that on Friday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 42-14 victory over the Trailblazers. Considering Mater Dei has won eight games by more than 27 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Mater Dei had a senior duo take command as Ajon Bryant rushed for 108 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries and Elijah Brown threw for 200 yards and two touchdowns on only 19 passes. Bryant was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 55 yards.
Sierra Canyon's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Wyatt Becker, who threw for 237 yards and a touchdown, and Dane Dunn who rushed for 71 yards and a touchdown.
Mater Dei has yet to lose a match at home this season, leaving them with a 11-1 record. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 36.08 points. As for Sierra Canyon, their loss ended a 11-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 11-1.
Mater Dei will square off against St. John Bosco at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. St. John Bosco is coming into the game hot, having won their last seven games. Sierra Canyon does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
