Basketball Recap: Winthrop Takes a Loss

Winthrop came up into this matchup off a tough 63-point loss last Thursday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Manchester Essex Hornets by a score of 44-41 on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Vikings of the 55-40 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2018.

Winthrop has also traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season. The win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 4-7.

Winthrop wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 38-32 victory against Gloucester on the 20th. As for Manchester Essex, they will look to defend their home court on February 25th against Sturgis West at 6:00 p.m.
