Basketball Game Preview: Coolidge Bears vs. Seton Catholic Sentinels

The Coolidge Bears will square off against the Seton Catholic Sentinels at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Monday, Coolidge beat The Gregory School 53-45. Given the Bears' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 83rd, while the Hawks are ranked 213th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Preston Dees was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted 11 or more boards the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Porter Dees, who posted five points and ten rebounds.

Meanwhile, Seton Catholic earned a 62-51 win over Globe on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Sentinels.

Coolidge better keep an eye on Kj Fauske. He was instrumental in Seton Catholic's win, going 8 for 17 en route to 24 points. Another player making a difference was Dylan Alvidrez, who earned ten points.

Seton Catholic was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Coolidge's victory bumped their record up to 18-5. As for Seton Catholic, their win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 12-10.
