Baseball Recap: Fieldcrest Comes Up Short

Fieldcrest extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 13-13 in the process. They fell 6-2 to the Deer Creek-Mackinaw Chiefs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Chiefs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-0 back in April.

As for Deer Creek-Mackinaw, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 15-15. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games.

For Deer Creek-Mackinaw's part, they got a great performance from Keagan Brown as he tossed 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. What's more, Brown posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Parker Eggenberger, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Fogle, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.

Fieldcrest does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Deer Creek-Mackinaw, they will face off against Prairie Central at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Hawks have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.52 runs per game on average), something the Chiefs will no doubt try to take advantage of.
