Baseball Recap: Terra Nova Victorious

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Terra Nova). They came out on top against the San Lorenzo Valley Cougars by a score of 8-4 on Friday.

Jesse Martinez was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Wesley McDougal and Luke Ornelas did most of the damage at the plate: McDougal scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4, while Ornelas scored three runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those three runs gave Ornelas a new career-high. Brody Finale was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Terra Nova's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2-1. As for San Lorenzo Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Terra Nova Tigers duke it out with Lowell Cardinals at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for San Lorenzo Valley, they will welcome Bellarmine College Prep at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
