Southern Lee gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They were the clear victor by a 14-3 margin over the Western Harnett Eagles. For the Cavaliers, this counts as revenge for the 4-3 win the Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2024.

Bryan McCollum was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time he hasn't allowed a single hit since back in February of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Luke Waters and Cole Faulk did most of the damage at the plate: Waters got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Faulk scored three runs while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance gave Waters a new career-high in RBI. Another player making a difference was Spencer Stephens, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Southern Lee always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Western Harnett only posted an OBP of .250.

Looking ahead, Southern Lee will take on Clayton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Western Harnett, they will challenge Scotland at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
