Soccer Recap: Sumter Takes a Loss

Sumter was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They came up short against the West Florence Knights, falling 6-0. While losing is never fun, the Gamecocks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 112th, while the Knights are ranked 15th).

Sumter's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for West Florence, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sumter will challenge Lower Richland at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Sumter has given up an average of 3.2 goals per game this season, so hopefully the team got some defensive drills in this week. As for West Florence, they are taking a road trip to square off against Dutch Fork at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. West Florence is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 4.3 goals per game this season.
