            Softball Recap: Pitman Pride vs. Downey Knights        
        
		
        
        
            Pitman was the  13-2 winner over Downey when they last played one another  back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Pitman Pride fell just short of the Downey Knights by a score of  12-11 on Tuesday. The Pride have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
 Elyssa Alcazar was cooking despite her team's loss,   scoring two  runs and  stealing  Four bases. while going 2-for-4.  Tatiana Rios also deserves some recognition as  she  brought in her first  RBI of the season.
 Even though they lost, Pitman was getting hits left and right  and  finished the game having  posted a batting average of .436. This was only their first loss (out of three games) when  they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Pitman's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Downey, their victory  ended  an  eight-game drought at home  dating back to last season and  bumped them up to 1-11.
 Pitman and Downey could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage  in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Pitman (ranked 425th) will meet Gregori (ranked 210th)  at 4:00  p.m.  on Thursday. Meanwhile,  Downey will  face off against  Enochs  at 4:00  p.m.  on Thursday down  326 places (556 vs. 230).
