Baseball Recap: Amherst Drops Season-High Score on Menominee Indian

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Amherst). They were the clear victors by a 29-1 margin over the Menominee Indian Eagles on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won five contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Noah Spoelstra made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Spoelstra was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-5 with four runs and two RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Amherst got a massive performance out of Wyatt Beaudoin, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. Those runs were Beaudoin's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Sully Perkins, who got on base in four of his six plate appearances with five runs, two RBI, and one double.

Amherst always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .620. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win (which was Amherst's third in a row) raised their record to 11-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Menominee Indian, they dropped their record down to 2-10 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Looking ahead, Amherst will welcome Bonduel at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Menominee Indian, they are taking a road trip to challenge Three Lakes at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
