Baseball Recap: Addison Trail Comes Up Short

Addison Trail extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 7-12 in the process. They came up short against the Willowbrook Warriors, falling 11-2. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Blazers couldn't push the score so high this time.

Casey Carlson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one double.

As for Willowbrook, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. The result was nothing new for Willowbrook, who have now won seven contests by six runs or more so far this season.

On Willowbrook's side, Mikey Garner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up eight Ks. Garner has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jake Bonino, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Charlie Siegler, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Addison Trail and Willowbrook could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Blazers (ranked 408th) will meet Hinsdale Central (ranked 151st) at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Willowbrook will square off against York at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday with a big rank disadvantage (133 vs. 13).
