Softball Recap: Cave Spring Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Cave Spring never let their opponents score on Friday. They were the clear victors by an 18-0 margin over the Patrick Henry Patriots. With that win, the Knights brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.

Madison Steffen made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Steffen was also solid in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Abigail Bradberry, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and four runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alijah Reeves, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBI.

Cave Spring hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in six consecutive matches.

Cave Spring's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-5. As for Patrick Henry, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-14.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cave Spring will venture away from home to take on William Byrd at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Patrick Henry, they will head out to face off against Franklin County at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Patriots' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
