Basketball Game Preview: Guajome Park Academy Frogs vs. Hilltop Lancers

The Guajome Park Academy Frogs will face off against the Hilltop Lancers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Guajome Park Academy is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.

Guajome Park Academy is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against High Tech NC on Thursday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Frogs had to suffer through a 68-31 loss at the hands of the Raptor. The contest marked the Frogs' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Ezra Baker put forth a good effort for the losing side as he dropped a double-double with ten points and ten boards. Baker is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least nine every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Matthew Valenzuela, who posted 12 points.

Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Hilltop ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. In a tight game that could have gone either way, they made off with a 60-59 win over O'Farrell Charter. With that victory, the Lancers brought their scoring average up to 51.4 points per game.

Guajome Park Academy better keep an eye on Roman Miramontes. He was instrumental in Hilltop's win, shooting 47% from the field to rack up 18 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. Miramontes continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ami Blea, who went 7-for-13 on his way to 15 points and four steals.

Guajome Park Academy now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Hilltop, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Guajome Park Academy has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 33.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Hilltop struggles in that department as they've been averaging 26.4 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
