Softball Recap: Navarro Takes a Loss

Navarro had lost four straight at home, but on Friday they dropped down to 11-13 to make it five. They lost 22-4 to the Cuero Gobblers. If the Panthers were looking for revenge after losing 11-8 to the Gobblers when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Shelbi Stevens was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. She is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she's now brought in three or more in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cadee Zimmer, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two runs.

As for Cuero, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-9-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.5 runs over those games.

On Cuero's side, Natalyn Milliorn and Julianna Cox did most of the damage at the plate: Milliorn went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, eight RBI, and four runs, while Cox fired off two home runs and seven RBI while going 3-for-3. Those four runs gave Milliorn a new career-high. Reagan Reitz was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Navarro has already played their next matchup, a 13-5 loss against La Vernia on the 30th. As for Cuero, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 20-0 victory against San Antonio Memorial on the 30th.
