Basketball Recap: Waverly Comes Up Short

Waverly played a tough matchup on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against the Bishop Neumann Cavaliers, falling 73-47. The Vikings have struggled against the Cavaliers recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Waverly saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Brockston Teply went 6 of 9 to rack up 15 points. Teply also set a new season-high mark in three-point shooting accuracy with 60%. Another player making a difference was Isaac Clarke, who posted nine points and seven boards.

Waverly's defeat dropped their record down to 2-16. As for Bishop Neumann, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

Waverly didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 64-47 loss against Aurora on the 7th. As for Bishop Neumann, they have also already played their next contest, a 60-57 victory against Scotus on the 7th.
