Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Morton). They came out on top against the Florence Eagles by a score of 76-64 on Friday. This was payback for the Panthers, who suffered a 61-51 defeat the last time these two teams met.

The victory made it two in a row for Morton and bumps their season record up to 4-5. As for Florence, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.

Morton and Florence could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings. Morton (ranked 95th) will meet Leake Central (ranked 20th) at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Florence will challenge South Jones at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025 down 70 places (89 vs. 19).
