Forsyth Home Educators is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Thursday. They will venture away from home to square off against the South Charlotte Thunder at 6:00 p.m. Forsyth Home Educators' defense has only allowed 24.6 points per game this season, so South Charlotte's offense will have their work cut out for them.
Forsyth Home Educators proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by 24) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 34-31 victory over Chatham HomeSchool. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Hawks have posted since November 7th.

BayLeigh Johnson and Lily Arnold were among the main playmakers for Forsyth Home Educators as the former posted 13 points and five steals and the latter scored 12 points along with five boards and three steals. Those 12 points gave Arnold a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Josie Briggs, who earned four points and eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, South Charlotte's game on Tuesday was all tied up 10-10 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They walked away with a 33-25 victory over Charlotte Christian.
South Charlotte found their leader in sophomore Caroline Gidney, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 17 boards. Those 17 rebounds set a new season-high mark for Gidney. The team also got some help courtesy of Maribella Aitchison, who put up 11 points.
South Charlotte's win ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-5. As for Forsyth Home Educators, their record now sits at 10-2.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Forsyth Home Educators has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 28.8 boards per game. However, it's not like South Charlotte struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 29.1 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Forsyth Home Educators came up short against South Charlotte when the teams last played back in January, falling 34-27. Can the Hawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
