Basketball Recap: Aiden Simms' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Christ's Church Academy over St. John Paul II

Christ's Church Academy and St. John Paul II squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Christ's Church Academy had to settle for second. They fell 56-44 to the St. John Paul II Panthers. The Eagles have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.

Christ's Church Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aiden Simms, who went 5-for-9 to rack up 14 points. Michael Jativa was another key player, putting up seven points and four steals.

St. John Paul II's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mario Forbes, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Forbes is crushing it when it comes to boards: he's pulled down at least nine every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Javier Santana, who posted 11 points.

Christ's Church Academy's loss dropped their record down to 17-5. As for St. John Paul II, their victory bumped their record up to 10-14.

Christ's Church Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for St. John Paul II, they will take on Eagle's View at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. St. John Paul II is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.8 points per game this season.
