Recap: North Tahoe Lakers vs. West Wendover Wolverines

After a string of three wins, the North Tahoe Lakers's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were the victim of a rough 67-43 loss at the hands of West Wendover. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for North Tahoe in their matchups with West Wendover: they've now lost six in a row.

When it comes to explaining why North Tahoe lost, one person who can't be blamed is Gavin Green. Despite the final result, he scored 24 points. Another player making a difference was Cormac Springsteel, who scored nine points.

North Tahoe struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as West Wendover racked up 17 assists.

Osvaldo Carrillo was his usual excellent self, scoring 26 points along with eight rebounds and five assists for West Wendover. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Carrillo has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Adryan Carlos, who scored 15 points along with two blocks.

North Tahoe's defeat dropped their record down to 12-12. As for West Wendover, their win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 20-4.

North Tahoe will head out on the road to take on Battle Mountain at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in their respective states (North Tahoe is ranked 83rd in California, while Battle Mountain is ranked 69th in Nevada). As for West Wendover, they will be playing at home against Incline at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. West Wendover has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
