League recap: Decorah-North Winneshiek tops Vinton-Shellsburg to extend winning streak

3A District 5 recap Oct. 3, 2012

Decorah-North Winneshiek extended the longest winning streak in 3A District 5 this week by beating Vinton-Shellsburg, 50-7. The win marks sixth in a row for the the Vikings.

West Delaware and Maquoketa played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with West Delaware eventually emerging with a 21-18 victory.

Crestwood's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Cadets feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Kolter Freidhof has thrown for 671 yards and four touchdowns this season, while Spencer Bohr has 19 catches for 247 yards. Kody Sindelar leads the league in rushing with 218 yards.

A big matchup in 3A District 5 this week will be when Crestwood takes on Decorah-North Winneshiek. The Cadets are in fifth place, while Bill Post's team is in first place.
