Baseball Game Preview: Pine Crest Panthers vs. Westminster Academy Lions

The Pine Crest Panthers will square off against the Westminster Academy Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Pine Crest 4.1, Westminster Academy 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Monday just wasn't the day for Pine Crest's offense. They lost 7-0 to Cardinal Newman on Monday. The Panthers just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Meanwhile, Westminster Academy gave up the first runs on Wednesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They had just enough and edged out ABF Academy 4-3. That's two games straight that the Lions have won by just one run.

Diego Solorzano was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for Westminster Academy and bumps their season record up to 12-5. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Pine Crest, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

Pine Crest was able to grind out a solid win over Westminster Academy in their previous meeting back in February of 2025, winning 9-5. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
