Preview: Red River Bulldogs vs. Winnfield Tigers
The Red River Bulldogs will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Winnfield Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Red River has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 134 points over their last three contests.
Last Friday, Red River really took it to Lakeview for the full four quarters, racking up a 68-14 victory at home. With Red River ahead 46-14 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Red River's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Montreveun Smith, who rushed for 133 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries. Smith was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 66 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Terrell Gary, who rushed for 113 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Winnfield fell victim to Many's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were beaten by the Tigers 49-0. The last quarter was a mere formality, since the game's final score was reached by the end of the third quarter.
With Red River's win and Winnfield's defeat, both teams now sport identical 2-5 records.
Red River came up short against Winnfield in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, falling 20-7. Will Red River have more luck at home instead of on the road?
